Bike Building Challenge
There’s a special bond between a kid and his bike. Bikes represent fun, freedom and fresh air, everything that’s good about being a kid. And what’s wonderful is that kids of all shapes, sizes, and abilities can take off on a bike on a sunny afternoon. The only barrier is poverty. Giving a bike to a child whose family can’t afford one provides that child so much more than just a fun afternoon. It gives them a sense of ownership and responsibility, builds wellness and self-esteem, and even allows them the time to dream.
During this Give Back challenge teams will work together to build a bike from scratch and then custom fit it to a deserving child. Teamwork, problem-solving and even the importance of good customer service are the obvious lessons – but your attendees will learn so much more. It creates a sense of unity, builds morale, and provides the knowledge that you are positively impacting someone’s life. Gandhi said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”. There’s no better way to do that than to influence the life of a child.
